A National Tax and Advisory Firm
Melville, New York.

When a national tax and advisory firm signed a lease on a new Long Island office in Melville, New York, ROF furnished the entire office, about 30 private offices, more than 55 workstations, a 15-seat training room, conference and huddle rooms, and reception, using Blended Design™. The result matched the firm’s existing furniture standard exactly, arrived in about eight weeks from proposed plan to move-in, and cost significantly less than the incumbent dealer’s all-new quote.

The challenge: match the standard exactly, and cost less
The brief had two rules. Every piece had to match the furniture standard the firm had been buying for years through the largest dealer in the country for a major contract brand. And because this was far larger than anything ROF had done for the client, it had to be significantly less expensive to be worth the risk of switching.
ROF had earned the chance on small jobs. For several years the firm gave us low-stakes reconfigurations. Through working with us on those smaller projects, they noticed we simply made things easier for them. For example, design turnaround. Where the incumbent took one to two weeks to return a revision, ROF returned it in one or two days.
The approach: remanufactured where it saves, new where it shows
ROF is a UL-certified office furniture remanufacturer, one of only six in the United States, not an aligned dealer. This means ROF can rebuild premium panel systems in its own 120,000 square foot facility and source components directly from the same suppliers the major brands use.
Workstations:
Every workstation is built on remanufactured Steelcase Answer panels. Remanufactured cubicles and office panel systems are the largest line item on a project like this, and remanufacturing them to like new condition is where the savings live. Everything else was new: high-quality glass stack components, work surfaces, sit-to-stand bases, and storage. The client received the exact look and function of its standard, at a fraction of the cost of all new.
Private offices:
The private office specification was a work surface, a sit-to-stand base, and storage, all new. An aligned dealer works backward from a single manufacturer’s catalog. ROF started this project with the client’s standard and budget, and sourced every component direct. Same look, same performance, and meaningful savings in every office.
Task chairs:
Upgraded to a remanufactured Steelcase Leap V2, and the client still saved money.
The result: on time, under the incumbent, and nobody noticed
The proposal was dated September 10, 2025. The team was at its desks in November 2025. The ROF team handled design, specification, project management, delivery, and office furniture installation, with a single point of contact and accountability. The client told us the local team had no idea anything was remanufactured, and that they would never buy new panel systems again.
The takeaway: we change the math
Large populations, strict brand standards, and maximizing budgets across state lines are exactly where Blended Design shines. Remanufacturing the biggest line item and sourcing components direct resulted in our ability to deliver the same specification at a fraction of the cost of all new, with a shorter design cycle than the incumbent could offer. It is also the most sustainable office furniture decision a company can make because every remanufactured panel system is premium steel and aluminum kept in service instead of discarded.
ROF now has a dedicated Mid-Atlantic presence in the Philadelphia area serving Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Delaware, and Maryland, in addition to our Tampa headquarters and nationwide project work.
What is remanufactured office furniture?
Remanufactured office furniture is premium commercial furniture, such as Steelcase, Herman Miller, and Haworth panel systems and seating, that has been fully disassembled, inspected, rebuilt with new components and finishes, and certified to perform like new. ROF is one of only six UL-certified office furniture remanufacturers in the United States. It is not resale furniture; it is rebuilt to a certified standard.
Can remanufactured furniture match an existing corporate furniture standard?
Yes. On this Long Island project, remanufactured Steelcase Answer panels were finished and configured to match the client’s standard exactly, then paired with new components in the specified laminate and fabrics. The client’s local team could not tell which pieces were remanufactured.
How much does Blended Design save on an office build-out?
Savings depend on the mix of remanufactured, new, and existing pieces. On this project, the workstations came in far lower than the incumbent’s price because the panel systems, the largest line item, were remanufactured. The private offices were all new and still came in meaningfully lower, because ROF sources components direct rather than through a single manufacturer’s catalog.
Does ROF handle office furniture projects in New York, Long Island, and the Northeast?
Yes. ROF completes projects nationwide from its Tampa headquarters and has a dedicated Mid-Atlantic presence in the Philadelphia area serving Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Delaware, and Maryland. This Melville, New York project was delivered by one ROF team from design through installation.
How long does an office furniture build-out take?
Timelines vary with scope, but on this project the proposed plan was dated September 10, 2025 and the team moved in during November 2025, about eight weeks. Design revision speed is a major factor. ROF returned revisions in one to two days where the incumbent needed two weeks or more.
